We’re coming up on the time of the year when it’s going to be cold outside on a regular basis, at least it will if you live in a place that has actual winter. If you live in Miami, you likely won’t have any interest in the clothing that Refrigiwear offers, though oddly enough, this company that specialized in cold weather clothing is based in Georgia, which is not exactly a place where one finds snowmen and glaciers.
Still, there’s a difference between clothing that you can throw on on a cold day to go shopping and the sort of ultra-rugged clothing that you’ll need if you work in frigid or subzero environments on a regular basis. That’s what Refrigiwear calls their specialty, and they’ve got a nice selection of clothing that will keep you warm in temperatures as low as -60° F.
If you spend a lot of time in really cold environments, you might find Refrigiwear to be useful.

For starters, Refrigiwear isn’t a new company. In fact, they’ve been in business since the early 1950s. They got their start in New York City, but moved to Dahlonega, Georgia in 1991. What they sell is clothing for people who work or spend time in environments where it’s really cold.
It’s not just a matter of bundling up, or putting on fifteen layers of clothing. Sure, that will help keep you warm, but if you actually need to move, or work, or get anything done, you’ll find that wearing fifteen layers of clothing is going to leave you largely unable to move.
Refrigiwear creates clothing that will keep you warm in subzero temperatures, but it’s also clothing that will allow you to move, function, and if you need to, actually work.
They offer everything that will cover you from head to toe, too – jackets, of course, but also vests, bibs, coveralls, hats, sweatshirts, socks, gloves, and boots.
In addition, they offer accessories, such as thermometers, safety glasses, safety knives, blankets and even hand warmers.
Refrigiwear also offers a “high visibility” line of clothing that will keep you warm and ensure that people will see you. This is great for people who work in dark or poorly lit environments.
Refrigiwear Features and Benefits
Free shipping – If you live in the United States, you’ll receive free shipping on all orders of $75 or more. That’s always a plus, as many of the items Refrigiwear sells are somewhat bulky and such items tend to cost a lot to ship.
Embroidery – If you want custom embroidery on any items you buy, Refrigiwear can arrange that. They can add logos, names, numbers or any one of a number of other identifiers to multiple locations on just about any garment they sell. They can also offer Pantone color matching, which will ensure that your logo looks exactly the right color.
Screen printing – If you’d rather not go with embroidery, Refrigiwear can also use a screen printing process to print images, logos and other markings on the clothing you buy from them.
Customization and alteration – Refrigiwear can customize your clothing to your specifications. This includes shortening sleeves or trousers, adding pockets, and more.
Repair and Laundry (really!) – Refrigiwear offers repair services at a reasonable cost. If you tear or damage the clothing that you buy from them, they can repair it. Not only that, but they also offer a cleaning service, believe it or not.
A nice feature of the Refrigiwear Website is that while they have their clothing listed by type (jackets, hats, gloves, etc.,) they also have it listed by profession. You can find sections offering clothing for people who work at airports, in agriculture, automotive, construction, landscaping, transportation and a number of other industries.
That’s just the outdoor professions. For indoors, they also offer clothing for people in the food processing, grocery, and restaurant industries, among others, making it easy to find exactly what you need.
Refrigiwear offers what they call a convenient, no-hassle return system, and they even include prepaid return shipping labels with every order. If you have a problem, it couldn’t be easier to send the item(s) back, if necessary. I’ve never seen the prepaid label thing before, and it’s a clever idea.
Refrigiwear Products and Pricing
Refrigiwear offers a wide variety of products for keeping warm, but their jackets are probably their most high-profile item. After all, it’s the most likely thing you’re going to want to wear if it’s cold outside.
Refrigiwear offers jackets for both men and women, though they do tend to have more choices for men. When I last checked, Refrigiwear had nearly 50 different jacket models for men, and about a dozen for women.
Prices for their jackets ranged from about $30 to about $200, depending on style and how extreme your weather is going to be. Their clothing designed for ultra-cold environments is obviously going to be more expensive than their light jackets for days that are cool, but not excessively cold.
Boots are priced from about $60 to about $250, and, as with jackets, they have models for both men and women, along with socks and boot liners.
Refrigiwear also has a sale section; when I checked they had several dozen items for sale at prices that were substantially lower than their regular prices. Those items are obviously going to vary from time to time, but if you’re on a budget, the sale section is worth a look.
When it comes to clothing, we all have different needs. Not everyone lives in a gold environment, and not everyone who lives in a cold environment has to actually work in a cold environment. But if your job or your hobbies involve spending a lot of time outdoors in places where it gets really cold, then you may well find spending some time at the Refrigiwear Website to be worth your while.
They sell hats, gloves, socks, coveralls, jackets, boots and more, and they’re all designed to allow you to move, to keep you warm, and to last a long time.
